Attending the German AI Award in Berlin, hosted by WELT and Axel Springer. An evening with founders, researchers and operators on where European AI moves from technical capability into commercial distribution.

I went to the German AI Award hosted by WELT at Axel Springer in Berlin. First time. Mostly, I went to listen.

Having spent the last few years moving between the German and US tech ecosystems, I didn't want to come in with a grand thesis about where the German AI ecosystem stands, just learn from the discussions in the room and find out how to best contribute.

One evening isn't a trend line. It's a snapshot. But it was insightful hearing leaders from politics, Black Forest Labs, Prior Labs, Dunia Innovation, Opus and others share their views.

One line was on my mind before I came, and it stayed with me on the way home.
